E-Discovery Functions: 5 - Macrosearch

A macrosearch is a search of the macro-database for responsive documents using search criteria that can be run automatically.  The most common example of macrosearching is the keyword search.  Macrosearches may also search for custodians, or document creation or modification dates, or documents by file type.
  • Demand digital-legal expertise
  • Design queries based on issues, revise queries as needed
  • Skillfully use computer search software to search the macro-database created in Step 4
  • Separate a suitably reduced number of potentially relevant documents for further review and processing.  Documents not included in this dataset should be archived.
  • Continually monitor, test, and document
